CeremonialCacao

What is Ceremonial Cacao?

Ceremonial Cacao is a master plant that has been used for centuries by indigenous people of Mexico, Central and South America to heal the body, mind and spirit. It is a medicine that traditionally brings people together and holds the space for transformational healing. It has been documented as used to heal imbalances like depression, high blood pressure, anxiety, anemia and other notable disorders

Ceremonial cacao is different from powder cocoa or chocolate. Powder cacao has gone through a process that eliminates many of the minerals and vitamins and removes the vital fats. Standardized chocolate goes through high heating and processing that renders it's medicinal quality significantly less. In addition to the processing, adding ingredients like milks, syrups and sugars dis-regulate the body.

Ceremonial grade cacao is minimally processed so it retains all of it's medicinal value. It is consciously grown and harvested with the intention of being used for ritual and medicinal use. Our Cacao suppliers like Ora Cacao, Kokoleka and Keith's Cacao, all are invested in Fair Trade and Sustainable practices and are in loving and right relationships with the land, farmers, customers and IxCacao herself. For this reason, the energetic signature is much greater in the consciously cultivated Cacao than the mass produced and highly processed chocolates. One might stay that her Spirit is still "intact" when shared in this way.

Why Is It Considered Medicine?

Considered a super food, cacao is rich in vitamins, nutrients and minerals like magnesium, zinc, copper, calcium, manganese, potassium & iron, just to name a few. It also contains neuro-transmitters and neuro-modulators like serotonin and dopamine that help us to feel happy, well and motivated. Cacao is an adaptogen, meaning that it lowers the stress hormone cortisol and improves energy levels. Canabanoids in cacao help us to slow down and relax our mind to be more present. Cacao get's many of it's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties from the inherent flavanoids and alkaloids. Cacao also contains chromium which helps to regulate blood sugar, and therefore has been reported to assist with losing weight due to decreased sugar cravings.

The main active ingredient in cacao is theobromine, which translates to "food of the gods." Theobromine is a vasodilator and is credited as the primary heart healing agent in cacao.  While ceremonial cacao contains a small amount of caffeine, unlike coffee or other stimulants that tax the adrenals and embolden the ego, theobromine brings the heart and mind into coherence by optimizing function of the physical heart. Cacao increases our intuition in this way, granting us access to wisdom for right thinking and right action. The axis of intelligence between the feeling heart center and the higher mind, permits more accurate interpretations for aligned decision making. When we are engaged in our intuitive awareness we can consciously make choices that are more reflective of our true nature.

About

Cacao Ceremony

What might a Cacao Ceremony consist of?

Each ceremony will differ depending on the group and the collective energy. Every Ceremony begins with opening sacred space, setting intentions and receiving the warm ceremonial cacao beverage. Often there is space to openly share, encouraged by questions prompted by the facilitator. Ceremonies include non-denominational prayer and meditation and a component of sound therapy. Some symbiotic elements likely to be woven into one of our ceremonies could be songs and instrumentals, creative art projects, dance, yoga, breathwork, or sound baths. Every ceremony ends by closing the space with reflections and gratitude.

Why is it a Ceremony?

Ceremonial cacao cares for the physical body as well as the emotions, mind and spirit. For this reason we recognize it as spiritual unifying force. This medicine helps us to slow down and be mindful of our experience. It is only when we are relaxed in body and mind that we can drop deeply into our heart to be present in our true nature.

Our spiritual heart is the access point to our sense of timelessness. It is the place where our eternal being is at one with Love. This place, our divinity, never leaves us, but when the mind is busy, it leaves that field of awareness. For the Maya and the indigenous keepers of cacao, it is a sacrament used to cultivate deep spiritual connection. With it's love enhancing ability it was, and is, used in celebration and rituals that honor the human experience and our relationships.

Cacao helps us to find our energetic roots and rekindle our relationship with the land and the Earth. This is all important for the human energy body since we live in interdependence with the electromagnetic field of Earth. The Earth's "heart beat", scientifically known as the Schumann resonance, informs the electromagnetic field of the heart, which in turn effects the electromagnetic field of the brain. When our body & brain are synchronized with the Earth, we experience health, wellness and vitality. When we are disconnected from our energetic roots and out of balance with our relationship to the mother, Mother Earth, we experience discord, disharmony and disease.

The Prophecy: A Greater Cause

As prophecy has foretold in this sacred time of cosmic change, cacao offers it's aid to help us remember Ayni, right relationship. When we are in right relationship with all dimensions of our being, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, we are also in right relationship with God/Divine. When we are in right relationship with the Earth, we are fostering Ayni with all life.

Our greatest mission in this life is to participate in our healing obligation. When we stop the suffering in the microcosm of our being, we participate in the healing of the macrocosm. The change you wish to see in the world begins in you.

If you seek to be a part of the cure for suffering in the world, IxCacao invites you to open your heart and remember...

Considerations and Contraindications

Cacao is a vasodialator and supports serotonin & dopamine production. In instances where SSRI's or MAO blood pressure medication is being taken, high doses of ceremonial cacao are contraindicated. Small doses pose little threat to these contraindications and instead, some research shows microdosing cacao is beneficial with these conditions. For this reason, your dosage for ceremony will be adapted to your needs.

Each participant is screened prior to the ceremony and contraindications are taken into consideration with great care. If cacao ceremony is not beneficial for you, you will be notified and refunded.

Mira Mi’s

Communion with Cacao

Mira Mi was first introduced to the medicine of cacao in 2018 by a sister medicine woman. She quickly took up a love affair with this plant teacher and began to learn and cultivate a relationship with her.

The spirit of cacao guided her to do a dieta with her in the Blue Ridge Mountains over a 7 day period. During this time Sunny experienced an extraordinary communion with this plant elder, listening to her story and her message she wished for her to share.

Sunny embarked on journeys to the Yucatan, exploring the world of cacao in Mexico, Belize and Guatamala. She had the pleasure of sitting and learning from Mayan priests as well as other stewards of cacao.

She has been through multiple facilitator courses to learn about the pharmacology of the plant as well as the farming practices and sustainability of cacao sourcing.

Sunny has worked within plant medicine and energy medicine ceremony space for years and lifetimes before. She desires to share these ancient teachings with those that are willing to receive and honor the Spirit of these plant teachers.

Her love is in creating conscious containers to steward the heart of the Beloved through the sharing of cacao and her teachings.
